Mrs Barbara Williams
Local Authority Governor - Chair of Governors
Our school vision statement is 'Nurturing, Growing, Inspiring', I keep this in mind at all times. This is what I believe is important and is what encourages me in everything I do at Holmer Lake. I believe that through teamwork and close partnerships we are building an inclusive school where children always come first, where staff lead by example and where communication and trust are all important.
I am Chair of Governors, and it is my privilege to work with such a dedicated team of people, both governors and our wonderful staff, who are all willing to give their professional expertise, time and effort in order to ensure Holmer Lake's children can be the very best that they can be. We are so fortunate to have such an inspiring leader as Mrs. Kumar.
I am an LA governor, and my 4-year term of office ends in November 2024. Before becoming a governor, I worked at various local schools for many happy years.
I am a member of the Safeguarding, Pupil Outcome and Curriculum and Staffing and Finance committees. I am a link governor for school improvement with special emphasis on reading. The governors meet twice a term to ensure we support and challenge the school in every way we can.
I try to visit school as often as possible although this has been more difficult since Covid came into our lives. I think that in order to be an effective governor I need to help to monitor the progress of everyone on a regular basis. Everyone in our school plays an important role in supporting our children in their next steps. We have high expectations of all children.
One of the most effective ways of being a critical friend is by listening to pupils, staff, parents and carers and acting positively if change or challenge seem to be needed.
Our community matters and our commitment to high expectations for all is at the core of everything we do. Everyone I meet at Holmer Lake and everything I do brings happiness into my life.
Term of office expires: 20.11.2028 (4 years).
